Must-Sees in Paris

If you’re only visiting for a day, here are some of the must-sees that I recommend. Eiffel Tower: If you want an iconic image to take home with you, make sure to visit this world-famous landmark. The Louvre: This is where you’ll find the Mona Lisa and other famous works of art. From the outside, it really does look like a palace! Notre Dame de Paris: You can’t go to Paris without seeing Notre Dame. It’s just as breathtaking as you would expect it to be!

Located on Il de la Cite is the iconic Notre Dame, an excellent spot to experience the best of Paris. A five-minute walk from Notre Dame will take you to the famous English- language bookstore, Shakespeare & Company. Grab a cup of coffee and indulge in an array of history, polity, the literature on the banks of the Seine River.

Head towards your next stop: The oldest Clock in Paris, an 8-minute walk from Shakespeare & Company lies a 14th-century stunning clock affixed to the Tour de l’Horloge. It’s functional and stunning and deserving of your time. A 3-minute walk from Tour de l’Horloge will take you to Sainte-Chapelle. It’s a 13th-century church that may fascinate you since visiting inside Notre Dame post the tragic April 2019 fire is not possible. You can choose to visit the Chapelle or head towards Luxembourg Garden and then towards Lourve.

On your way to Lourve, an absolute must-stop is St Germain. It’s basically the poster neighbourhood of Paris. With its wrought-iron balconies and shuddered window buildings, St Germain gives you the feel of an authentic Parisian life. Eat and relax in some of the best French restaurants, and don’t forget to grab the delicious Macarons from Laduree.

Lourve

As you reach the huge majestic Lourve please know you can not see it in a day. You have to prioritize what you want to see. Mona Lisa, Egyptian artefacts, or Venus de Milo? Take your pick and don’t give more than 2 hours to this gem of a place.

As the day ends, finish it by visiting Palais Garnier, a mini Versaille, 17 minutes away from Lourve on foot. And then hop on metro line 9 to head towards the scenic Eiffel Tower View. There’s nothing like the glittering Eiffel Tower in the night. Let this be the view you behold as you end the Best of Paris in a Day!

My Personal Favourite

When I’m in Paris, I like to walk around the city centre and just take in the architecture, art, and general beauty of this amazing place. It’s also great to visit new neighbourhoods that you wouldn’t usually see on a typical day just walking around, like the 16th arrondissement (a leafy, peaceful neighbourhood).
