Police in France have begun a murder investigation after the body of a 12-year-old girl was found in a suitcase outside her home. The girl, who has only been identified as Lola, is believed to have been raped and tortured before being killed.

Four Algerians are held by French police on suspicion of taking part in the gruesome killing and rape of Lola. Each of the suspects—Dahbia B., Amine K., Friha B., and Rachid N.—is from the same Algerian village, and one of them might be present in the country illegally.

The girl’s body was discovered in a suitcase, curled up, bound, with a throat wound that was severely infected, and marked with inscriptions. Her death was caused by asphyxiation, according to the Saturday autopsy. Two of the suspects in the case have been accused of “concealing a corpse,” “rape of a minor under the age of 15, and murder of a minor under the age of 15 in connection with acts of torture and barbarism.” The new information from BMFTV claims the girl was also raped, despite the fact that there was no indication of sexual violence when the story first went viral.

Additionally, according to the police, “a gadget” was used to “imprint” the numerals “one” and “zero” on her body, but it is still unknown what these numbers imply or how they were done.

Lola’s father reported her missing on Friday after she did not return from her studies at Georges-Brassens College, which is located immediately behind the building where she was later discovered. Delphine, Lola’s mother, visited the XIXth Police Station.

“Our daughter Lola was last seen at 3:20 in the company of a woman we do not know at our apartment,” the mother wrote in a desperate plea on social media after her daughter disappeared.

In the Hauts-de-Seine town of Bois-Colombes, early on Saturday morning, the police also detained a fourth suspect. It is a woman whose description may be the same as a woman who was captured on camera at the scene of the crime. Le Parisien reports that a fourth individual is currently being held by police. She is a woman who is said to have requested a local for assistance on Friday afternoon so she could lift a large trunk to her car. The two women being held are sisters, and one of them is reportedly homeless, according to media reports.

According to BFMTV, the Paris prosecutor’s office currently describes a 24-year-old man as the primary suspect in the case; he reportedly spoke “clearly” to detectives and also revealed crucial information about the case. A second suspect, a man in his 40s, is thought to have assisted the younger male offender in moving the body. What possible role the female suspects may have had in the case is unknown.

Le Journal du Dimanche reports that police are also looking into the possibility that the girl was abducted with the intention of harvesting her organs.

Politicians all around France are stressing the fact that immigrants are to blame for yet another brutal rape and murder.

“Lola, 12, brutally murdered in the 19th arrondissement of Paris. Four Algerians in custody. Our youth is being slaughtered while professional mourners chase imaginary Islamophobia,” wrote Stéphane Ravier, senator for Bouches-du-Rhône.

National Rally parliamentary leader Marine Le Pen wrote on Twitter, “Once again, a terrible assassination. A little girl massacred in the middle of Paris. One day, it will be necessary to go to the end of the investigations to find, not only the direct culprits, but also to stop the crazy policies which make these crimes possible.”
