Alia Bhatt Wows at Met Gala 2024 with Dreamy Sabyasachi Saree

Alia Bhatt brought a touch of fairytale magic to the Met Gala 2024, held on Monday in New York City.

The theme for this year’s event was “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” with a dress code of “The Garden of Time.” Bhatt embodied the theme perfectly in a stunning Sabyasachi saree that blossomed with intricate floral embroidery.

Beyond the red carpet, Bhatt shared captivating photos from her photoshoot, showcasing the intricate details of the garment. The photos quickly garnered praise from fans and fellow celebrities alike.

Janhvi Kapoor called the look “Insane insane insane,” while Alia’s sister Shaheen described her as a “Woodland princess.” Celebrity stylist Ami Desai declared it “unreal,” and Sophie Choudry remarked on its “ethereal” quality. Filmmaker Zoya Akhtar simply wrote “Beauts,” while Saba Ali Khan praised the look as “Exquisite.”

In her Instagram post, Bhatt revealed the immense effort behind the creation. “This ethereal saree…a testament to boundless love and painstaking effort,” she wrote. The intricate piece took a staggering “1965-man hours” to create, involving a team of 163 artisans, including master craftspeople, embroiderers, artists, and dyers.

Bhatt wasn’t the only Indian representative at the Met Gala. Designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee and socialite Natasha Poonawalla also graced the red carpet, making it a memorable night for Indian fashion.
