Dhurandhar is a two-part espionage revenge saga loosely inspired by real events surrounding India’s covert operations inside Karachi’s deadly Lyari underworld between 2008 and 2014.
Ranveer Singh plays Hamza Ali Mazhari, a young Punjabi man whose entire family is wiped out in a Pakistan-backed terror attack on Indian soil. Burning with grief, he is recruited and trained by RAW, given a new identity, and infiltrated deep into Karachi as a loyal foot-soldier of the notorious Lyari gang lord Rehman Dakait (Akshaye Khanna).
For years, Hamza climbs the criminal ladder, earning Rehman’s trust while secretly feeding intelligence back to India. His codename inside the agency: “The Wrath of God”. His real mission: dismantle the terror-finance pipeline that runs through Lyari gangs, madrasas, and corrupt Pakistani politicians — the same network that once destroyed his life.
When a new 26/11-style attack on India is green-lit, Hamza is activated for a final, suicidal operation: burn the entire network from the inside in 72 hours, even if it means becoming the most wanted man on both sides of the border.
Part 1 (released December 5, 2025) follows Hamza’s descent into the monster he pretends to be, his forbidden love with Yalina (Sara Arjun), daughter of a powerful Lyari politician (Rakesh Bedi), and the brutal chess game with Rehman Dakait, who begins to smell betrayal.
The film ends on a blood-soaked cliffhanger that directly sets up Part 2 (already confirmed for Republic Day 2027), promising an all-out war on the streets of Karachi and along the border.
In short: Oldboy meets Zero Dark Thirty meets Gangs of Wasseypur, soaked in Indian rage and Pakistani paranoia. Ruthless, real, and relentlessly gripping.
