Accused Netflix Review: Why Konkona Sen Sharma’s #MeToo Thriller is a Total Disappointment

Accused Netflix starring Konkona Sen Sharma and Pratibha Ranta looked promising. A gender-flipped #MeToo story with a powerful queer female doctor accused of misconduct? Sounds bold and fresh. But the reality? It’s one of the most disappointing Netflix releases of 2026. Brutally honest: this film wastes great talent on weak writing, flat drama, and zero real impact.

The story follows Dr. Geetika Sen (Konkona Sen Sharma), a top London gynecologist in a same-sex marriage with Dr. Meera (Pratibha Ranta). When sexual harassment allegations hit, her career and relationship start falling apart. The idea explores power, doubt, truth vs perception, and post-#MeToo fallout. Good intentions, yes. But execution is terrible.

The script feels lazy and boring. The thriller part is super slow with almost no tension. The mystery is messy – clues and accusers don’t add up well. The central marriage? It never feels real. They act more like friends or roommates than a loving couple. No chemistry, no intimacy, no emotional pull. When your main relationship feels fake from the start, the whole story loses stakes.

Konkona Sen Sharma, usually amazing, is strangely off here. Her character comes across as whiny, annoying, and defensive instead of complex or scary. Critics call it “restrained,” but it just feels flat and irritating. Pratibha Ranta tries hard, but she’s stuck in a weak role with little to do. Direction by Anubhuti Kashyap looks okay on screen but stays too safe. It raises big questions then answers them with shallow comments and a rushed, unsatisfying ending.

Skip Accused on Netflix unless you want to see what a missed chance looks like. Konkona deserves better scripts. This one is a big letdown.
