“My Father Brought The Phone For Me To Study Online, How Could I Let Them (Thiefs) Take Away,” Says 15-year-old Kusum Kumari Who Fought With Snatchers To Save Her Mobile
Kussum was returning to her home when two men riding on a bike came near her to snatch the mobile. The man on the pillion seat snatched it as Kusum instantly held his hand. She grabbed the man by his t-shirt and pulled him off the bike. The man slapped and attacked her with sharp objects. He tried to run away with his partner. But Kusum did not let this happen. She chased the riders and dragged the pillion down.
Soon people started gathering and they came to rescue Kusum. She got ger phone back while the snatchers rode away. Kusum was immediately rushed to the hospital nearby to treat the injuries caused by the attack.
The event took place on 1st September 2020 around 2 pm in Jalandhar, Punjab.
The video of the entire brawl soon became viral on social media.
DC Ghanshyam Thori announced a cash award of 51,000 rupees for her exemplary courage.
The young girl when asked how did she get manage to take down the snatchers, she replied, “The mobile phone is very important to me as I know my father had to work really hard to buy the phone so that my studies are not compromised due to pandemic.” She further added, “how could I let them steal it away, it was from my father’s hard work.”
