A (Humorous) Look Back at 2022: Pandemics, Politics, and Plenty of Quarantine Baking

As we bid farewell to 2022 and welcome in 2023, it’s time to take a moment to reflect on all that happened over the past year. And what a year it was! From pandemics to politics to plenty of quarantine baking, 2022 was a year that will definitely go down in history.

When we think back on 2022, the first thing that probably comes to mind is the pandemic. It’s hard to believe that it’s been over a year since the world was turned upside down by COVID-19. At the time, it seemed like a distant, abstract threat that would never really affect us. But before we knew it, our lives were completely transformed by masks, social distancing, and lockdowns.

For many of us, 2022 was the year of Zoom. Suddenly, our homes became our offices, and we found ourselves juggling work, school, and home life all under one roof. And while it was definitely a challenge to adapt to this new way of life, we also learned some valuable skills along the way. We became experts at video conferencing, discovered the joys of sweatpants as work attire, and learned how to make our own coffee (because let’s face it, the office coffee just wasn’t the same).

But it wasn’t all bad. In fact, 2022 was also the year of the great quarantine baking boom. With more time on our hands and less access to our favorite bakeries and cafes, we turned to the kitchen to satisfy our cravings. From sourdough to cookies to cakes, we baked our way through the pandemic. And let’s not forget the rise of the home barista, as we all became connoisseurs of the perfect espresso shot.

Of course, 2022 was also a year of political unrest and division. From protests to elections to social media outrage, it seemed like there was no escape from the constant news cycle. But through it all, we learned the importance of staying informed, using our voices, and fighting for what we believe in.

As we look back on 2022, it’s clear that it was a year like no other. It was a year of challenges, but also a year of growth and resilience. So let’s take a moment to celebrate all that we’ve accomplished and all that we’ve learned. And here’s to a new year, full of hope and possibility.

Happy 2023, everyone!
