America wake up! Say no to child marriage

New York is the 6th state in the USA to prohibit Child Marriage for good, which leaves us with 44 states yet to embargo.

One of the wicked truths about the US is making child marriage valid. Presumably, United States is one of the most developed countries in the world but, whenever such issues come to light it exhibits the authentic sketch and kernel of this country. Making Child marriage legal bestows people a free pass to statutory rape. Many more such nefarious laws are part of the constitution, and the US needs to introspect. The time is ripe to improve the quality and intent of its politicians.

I don’t know how these socialites dare to stand in front of the people of the USA? When Americans can stand against BLM and LGBTQ then why not child marriage? I know BLM and LGBTQ are very susceptible and crucial topics but so is “CHILD MARRIAGE”. Periodically it seems like the protests were for some exhibition or, whatever. These topics gained international scrutiny within minutes but no suspicion on the existence of child marriage.

According to a survey, 300K children around the age of 10 got married between 2000 and 2018 which is a disturbing and traumatising figure. And what’s the most terrible thing, about 80% of these girls were married to an adult. A clear example of statutory rape. Due to the shackles of marriage, this crime is blindfolded and buried. But what about those girls? Aged 10, 11, 12, 13….? Existence questioned; life destroyed!

So, it’s a request to the Americans and people around the world to come forward and make the government embargo this hideous sin. Today this count is 300k, tomorrow it will be 500K, and who knows it will never stop. Colourful flag for LGBTQ, Fist for BLM, and Pink ribbon for breast cancer but, what is for child marriage?? Still a question even in the 21st century, now you can discern where we stand as living, breathing and responsible humans of this world.
