Anahat Singh is the first Indian teenager to win the US Open Squash Championship

Anahat Singh, a 13-year-old from Delhi, won the coveted US Junior Squash Open. Anahata is the first woman from India to win this competition. In the girls’ under-15 division, she defeated Egypt’s Zaida Marei.

On the 22nd of December, Anahat Singh, an Indian teen, created history by winning the famous Junior US Open Squash event in Philadelphia in the U-15 girl’s category. The 13-year-old defeated Egypt’s Jayda Marei in the final match at the Arlen Spectre Centre, with scores of 11-9, 11-5, 8-11, 11-5.

In the world’s largest junior solo squash event, over 850 squash junior players from 41 countries competed. The match’s primary highlight was Singh’s semi-final triumph in straight games over USA’s junior national champion Dixon Hill. Singh won the championship in under 32 minutes.

Anahat began playing squash at the age of eight and was ranked first in the country in the U 11 category within a few years. To date, she has won 40 national titles, two national championships, and six international championships. In the Girls U 13 division, she is now rated top in Europe, Asia, and India. She earned gold at the British Junior Open in 2019, silver at the British Junior Open 2020, and bronze at the Asian Junior Championships in 2019.
