Bhuban Badyakar, Bengal’s latest viral star, has had an unbelievable journey from selling peanuts in a small village in Birbhum to playing live music at a nightclub in Kolkata.
The Kacha Badam song, sung by Bhuban Badyakar became an instant sensation on Instagram after celebrities and influencers began grooving to his song.
Wondering how this happened?
Bhuban always wanted to be a singer, but his economic conditions forbade him from pursuing his dream. Instead, he had to become a peanut seller.
Recently Bhuban learned from a junk merchant in Dubrajpur that items such as broken cell phones, obsolete fake jewellery, and even human hair could be sold for a profit. He made the decision to exchange peanuts for these scraps.
He wrote a song called Kachhaa Badam to promote peanuts. One of the buyers took a video of it and posted it on social media. This song has since gone on to become a worldwide hit. There have been 4.5 million clips made alone on Instagram.
Thanks to social media users who were enraged and wondered if Bhuban had received any monetary remuneration or credit for his music. Bhuban was recently awarded Rs 3 lakh by Godhulibela Music, the music label that produced the remixed version of the song.
