In a monumental feat that has redefined the commercial landscape of Indian cinema, Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar franchise has officially become the first Indian film series to cross the ₹3,000 crore mark worldwide. Starring Ranveer Singh in the lead as the lethal undercover operative Jaskirat Singh Rangi, the duology surpassed this historic milestone on Tuesday, April 14, 2026.
The franchise, consisting of Dhurandhar (December 2025) and its sequel Dhurandhar: The Revenge (March 2026), has now eclipsed the combined lifetime collections of legendary Indian franchises like Baahubali, Pushpa, and KGF.
The Dhurandhar series hasn’t just broken records; it has created a new category of box office dominance. This is the only Indian franchise where both installments have individually crossed the ₹1,000 crore mark.
| Franchise | Lead Actor | Combined Worldwide Gross |
| Dhurandhar | Ranveer Singh | ₹3,019+ Crore |
| Baahubali | Prabhas | ₹2,438 Crore |
| Pushpa | Allu Arjun | ₹2,221 Crore |
| KGF | Yash | ₹1,453 Crore |
Several factors contributed to the sequel’s unprecedented run, which has seen it maintain a strong presence even in its fourth week:
Despite the box office glory, the franchise has hit a legal snag. Rajiv Rai, the director of the 1989 cult classic Tridev, has filed a lawsuit against filmmaker Aditya Dhar and B62 Studios. The dispute centers on the use of the iconic song “Oye Oye” (Rang De Lal) in the sequel. Rai alleges the song was used without proper authorization, seeking injunctive relief and a share of the commercial exploitation.
| Metric | Figure |
| India Net (Hindi) | ₹1,088.62 Crore |
| Worldwide Gross | ₹1,718.62 Crore |
| Theatrical Shows | 10,286 (Day 26) |
| Ensemble Cast | Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan, Rakesh Bedi |
| OTT Partner | JioHotstar (Expected Late May 2026) |
Ranveer Singh has solidified his position as the “Box Office King” of 2026. The Dhurandhar franchise represents a paradigm shift in Indian filmmaking, proving that multi-part storytelling can achieve a scale previously reserved for Hollywood’s biggest IP. As the sequel continues its theatrical run, the only question remaining is: how high will this record eventually sit?
