Flawless Contour, Zero Thoughts: The Age of Fake Hustle and Real Nonsense

The Age of Contour and Confusion

Welcome to the 21st century, where your self-worth is directly proportional to the number of filters on your face, and productivity is measured by how well you can document your own existence. If Socrates were alive today, he’d be too busy perfecting his skincare routine to bother with philosophy.

We live in a world where people spend hours layering foundation, bronzer, and setting spray, only to caption their selfies with deep, life-altering quotes like, “Just be yourself”—ironic, considering their real face hasn’t seen daylight since 2015. Beauty isn’t just skin deep anymore; it’s a full-fledged, meticulously crafted illusion held together by overpriced serums and wishful thinking.

Meanwhile, on social media, influencers preach about the importance of self-love while subtly implying that you should probably buy their favorite (sponsored) collagen powder if you want to be worthy of affection. And don’t get me started on the ‘that girl’ trend, where people wake up at 5 AM to sip matcha, meditate for 30 seconds, and then spend two hours filming themselves doing it. If it’s not on Instagram, did it even happen?

The real tragedy, however, is the slow, almost artistic decline of intellect. We have access to all the world’s knowledge at our fingertips, yet we choose to engage in debates over whether a man in sunglasses should be allowed to eat a cheeseburger a certain way. People no longer discuss literature, history, or philosophy, but they will passionately argue for hours about the optimal way to style an eyebrow. Aristotle wrote about the importance of virtue; today’s scholars write 300-word think pieces on whether Kim Kardashian’s latest outfit is ‘aesthetic’ enough.

And let’s not forget the greatest achievement of our time: perfecting the art of looking busy while doing absolutely nothing. The rise of ‘hustle culture’ has ensured that people spend more time talking about how hard they’re working than actually working. Everyone is an entrepreneur, a content creator, or a ‘digital nomad’—which, in some cases, is just code for ‘unemployed with WiFi.’

So here we are, in an era where beauty is artificial, knowledge is optional, and people feel exhausted despite achieving next to nothing. But hey, at least their contour is flawless.
