The ex-US President, Donald Trump, has now launched his own communications platform, ‘From the Desk of Donald J Trump’ or should we say a one-way communication platform.
The former President can post pictures, videos, comments, and articles on the new platform built by Campaign Nucleus, created by Trump’s former campaign manager Brad Parscale.
Tabs on Trump’s new website allow users to like or share the posts on their own Facebook or Twitter accounts, but there is no option for them to reply.
Visitors are also invited to “sign up for alerts”, options to “shop” and “contribute” also figure prominently.
A footnote says the tool is funded jointly by the ex-president’s Save America and Make America Great Again political action committees.
The launch of the website comes just ahead of Facebook’s independent oversight board’s decision on whether or not to indefinitely suspend Trump from the platform.
In January after the US Capitol riots, leading social media platforms like Twitter, YouTube and Facebook had removed the then US President Donald Trump’s account for allegedly inciting violence and spreading misinformation. Twitter stated that Trump’s tweets violated the micro-blogging website’s ‘Glorification of Violence’ policy. Facebook on its part temporarily suspended Donald Trump’s account following the incident.
