Michelle Yeoh becomes first Asian best actress winner at Oscars 2023

Wow, what a momentous night at the Oscars! Michelle Yeoh has made history as the first Asian woman to take home the Best Actress award, and Everything Everywhere All at Once has blown us all away by winning an incredible seven awards, including Best Picture, Director, and Original Screenplay.

As Yeoh accepted her well-deserved statuette, she gave a powerful speech that’s sure to inspire generations to come. To all the little boys and girls out there who look like her, she declared that this win is a beacon of hope and possibility. And to all the ladies watching, she reminded them that they’re never past their prime.

And that’s not all – her co-stars Ke Huy Quan and Jamie Lee Curtis also shone bright in their supporting roles, proving that Everything Everywhere All at Once truly is a force to be reckoned with. In fact, no other film in history has ever won Best Picture, Best Director, and three acting prizes.

Yeoh’s portrayal of a Chinese-American laundrette owner struggling with taxes, marriage, and motherhood, but who discovers multiple versions of herself in the multiverse, captivated audiences and critics alike. She demonstrated that dreams do come true, and dedicated her award to all the moms out there who are the true superheroes of the world.

At 60 years old, Yeoh’s victory is even more inspiring, as she overtook the early frontrunner Cate Blanchett to secure the award. And as we celebrate her historic win, we also acknowledge that there’s still work to be done to make the entertainment industry more diverse and inclusive.

But for now, let’s revel in this momentous occasion and congratulate Michelle Yeoh and the entire cast and crew of Everything Everywhere All at Once on their spectacular achievements.
