US: A Pakistani man travels 1,400 killometers to kill his ex-wife Sania Khan

A Pakistani man drove almost 1,400 kilometres (875 miles) from Georgia to Chicago and killed his ex-wife because he was furious about her TikTok videos. After murdering her, he took his own life.

Sania Khan, an American photographer of Pakistani descent, has been posting videos on TikTok about leaving a terrible marriage and starting over. She recorded her healing process from the traumatic divorce in her videos.

Raheel Ahmad, 39, reportedly travelled 14 hours to get to Khan after becoming enraged by her producing videos about their relationship and the South Asian community’s reaction to it.

Sania Khan, 29, was allegedly shot and killed by her ex-husband Ahmed, according to a police report that the Chicago Sun-Times was able to get.

According to local media sources, following Ahmed’s disappearance from his house, his family contacted the Alpharetta police. At Khan’s flat, they requested a welfare check because they believed he could be there.

In a statement to ABC News, Chicago police said that when the police arrived in the 200 block of East Ohio Street, they discovered a man and a woman inside a house with gunshot wounds to the heads.

In contrast to Ahmed, who was transferred to Northwestern Hospital and later pronounced dead, Khan was given her death certificate there and then. A weapon was found at the site, the police reported.

The murder of the Pakistani woman has shocked people throughout the world, and other South Asian women have noticed a connection to the murder. They claim that while attempting to leave violent partners, they encountered the same stigmas and isolation.

A South Asian woman who lives in the US told NBC News, “I could see myself in her.” He was not able to deal with the fact that she had not only abandoned him but also managed to live a happy, successful life.

Khan, a native of Chattanooga, Tennessee, spoke on TikTok about her marital difficulties. According to ABC News, she revealed her troubles with her family and several South Asians who did not agree with her decision to leave her marriage. Sania Khan would patiently advise other women to “stop ignoring those warning signs.”

In a TikTok video, she said, “Divorce as a South Asian Woman seems like you failed at life sometimes.”

“The way the community labels you, the lack of emotional support you receive, and the pressure to stay with someone because ‘what will people say’ is isolating. It makes it harder for women to leave marriages that they shouldn’t have been in to begin with.”

Sania Khan was also quite active on Instagram, where she developed a fan base by posting pictures of weddings, pregnancy sessions, baby showers, and other events.

“Sania said 29 is going to be her year and it’s going to be a new beginning. She was so excited,” Brianna Williams, a university friend, told the BBC.
