The long-awaited Bollywood debut of South Indian sensation Sai Pallavi has finally arrived with the release of “Ek Din”. Starring alongside Junaid Khan and produced by Aamir Khan Productions, the film has sparked intense discussion among cinephiles and trade analysts alike.
Released on May 1, 2026, “Ek Din” a Hindi adaptation of the 2016 Thai hit One Day opened to what trade experts call a “lukewarm” reception. On its first day, the film collected approximately ₹1.15 crore net in India.
Directed by Sunil Pandey, “Ek Din“ marks Junaid Khan’s second theatrical outing after Loveyapa. Despite the backing of Aamir Khan Productions and a month-long advance booking window, the film’s “slice-of-life” and slow-paced nature appears to be struggling against the current wave of high-octane action thrillers dominating the 2026 box office.
However, industry insiders believe the film’s fate rests on long-term “word-of-mouth.” Historically, Sai Pallavi’s films have shown strong legs over time due to her dedicated fan base. All eyes are now on the Monday “litmus test” to see if the film can stabilize its collections.
