The Rainbow’s End

The angel Gabriel, stood before me in a swirl of white and mist. She said “Zarine, You have been a golden girl this year, as white as snow with not a stain of sin. Therefore today you will come with me to paradise.” She held out her hand to me. I took it and together we were swirled in the midst of a tornado. I closed my eyes in fright. When the swirling stopped, I opened my eyes. A huge golden castle towered before me in the midst of a lovely garden. The huge door creaked open in front of me. I walked down the hallway towards a huge ballroom fitted with exquisite clothes, shoes, jewellery and handbags. The clothes shimmered, the shoes shone and the jewellery sparkled with radiance.

“Take anything you please and get ready for dinner”, Gabriel told me. Delighted, I sprung into action trying various combinations until one fitted me best. I was then taken into a shining salon decorated with pearls where a lovely beautician fixed my hair and makeup. I couldn’t recognize myself after everything! Gabriel guided me to the dining room. A huge dining table stood in the centre filled with every kind of delicacy I could think of. Caviar, Roast Chicken, lamb chops, Ice-creams, puddings! Best of all was the most handsome young man who stood there. We danced to heavenly music and sat down to the most scrumptious meal. We were then guided to the most beautiful garden landscaped with exotic plants and magnificent flowers. A magnificent rainbow appeared at the corner. The angel Gabriel turned to me,” Unfortunately Zarine you were caught disrespecting your mother today. Therefore you must go back. However you may keep this rainbow’s end”. She pushed the shimmering rainbow’s end to me.

“Zarine, come for dinner” My brother shook me from my deep sleep. I rose and followed him to the dining room. I saw something shimmering in our potted plant- It was the Rainbow’s end.
