As International Women’s Day (March 8) approaches, questions are rising about the implementation of the Mahila Samriddhi Yojana in Delhi. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta had promised that the first installment of ₹2,500 would be credited to eligible women’s accounts by this date.
However, BJP Delhi President Virendraa Sachdeva hinted at the scheme’s rollout but did not confirm the exact date. “Things will become clear soon,” he said.
Before taking office on February 20, CM Rekha Gupta had assured that her government would fulfill its poll promises, including financial assistance for women. She stated that all 48 BJP MLAs were committed to implementing the scheme.
“Providing financial support to women is our priority,” she said. “By March 8, 100% of eligible women will receive the first installment in their accounts.”
The Mahila Samriddhi Yojana was a key part of BJP’s Delhi election manifesto. Under this scheme, eligible women will receive ₹2,500 every month. The initiative aims to empower women financially and support their livelihoods.
The BJP swept the Delhi Assembly elections, winning 48 out of 70 seats and ending the AAP’s decade-long rule. However, with March 8 nearing, many are questioning whether the scheme will be implemented as promised.
For now, BJP leaders assure that the rollout is in progress. But will the first installment reach women’s accounts on time? That remains to be seen.
