Police have started an investigation after a woman was raped on Saturday night.
Detectives are investigating the alleged sex assault that occurred in Wimborne just before midnight on June 25.
A woman in her 50s was allegedly raped by a man in Poole Road, according to a report to Dorset Police.
The woman was reportedly found with injuries next to the Coach and Horses bar in Poole Road at 11.47 p.m. after leaving the Cricketers Arms in Park Lane at around 11.30 p.m.
The perpetrator is characterised as a man with brown hair, a skinny physique, and hooded clothing.
Detectives from the Major Crime Inquiry Team of the Dorset Police have opened an investigation into the event (MCIT).
Detectives from Dorset Police are pleading with any witnesses or people with information about the rape of a woman in Wimborne to come forward.
We are doing a variety of inquiries into this matter and are doing everything we can to support the victim, said Detective Inspector Wayne Seymour of MCIT.
According to our inquiries, a man driving a flatbed truck stopped to help the woman when she stumbled and fell in the street before the incident, and another man helped by picking up items she had dropped from her handbag.
“I want to talk to these people because they could know something crucial that will help our investigation.
“I would also like to hear from anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area around the relevant time and would urge motorists with dashcams who were in the vicinity, as well as residents with home CCTV systems or doorbell cameras, to please check their footage from the night.
“I appreciate that reports of this nature will cause concern for the local community, and I would like to reassure member of the public that a full and thorough investigation is being carried out into this incident.
“There will be an increased policing presence in the area as we conduct enquiries, and local officers can be approached by anyone with information or concerns.”
