Italy: Mother Burned Her Daughter With Hot Iron For Not Wearing A Viel

She was abused at home for months, possibly years; her mother is claimed to have burned her with an iron, and her brother not only beat her but also hit her with a glass. An affair that has resulted in a three-year sentence for the older brother and a four-month sentence for the mother; the sister-in-law was also on trial but she was acquitted.

This is the decision of the Brescia (Italy) court; in a case of ill-treatment and assault begun in 2019 after a complaint by a young girl of Pakistani origin, who was just 15 at the time.

The girl, who was harassed by her Islamic relatives, is alleged to have fled her house multiple times before reporting the incident. She was then placed in a sheltered community. Earlier she tried to kill herself in the family home. Her abuse lasted months, according to the public prosecutor, who was represented by Donato Greco. However, family members have consistently denied this, even though the judges eventually admitted their responsibility.
