Chennai, April 20, 2026 – The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have faced a major setback early in their IPL 2026 campaign. Emerging batting talent Ayush Mhatre has been sidelined for at least three weeks following a hamstring tear sustained during their recent clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
CSK batting coach Michael Hussey confirmed the injury, noting that while Mhatre has been a revelation at the top of the order, the team will now need to shuffle their lineup. This development has reignited discussions around MS Dhoni’s position in the batting order. While fans are clamoring for the legend to move up, the management is reportedly looking at internal replacements to maintain their aggressive powerplay approach. Scans are pending to determine if Mhatre can return for the business end of the tournament.
