KKR Boosted by the Arrival of ‘Baby Malinga’ Matheesha Pathirana
Kolkata, April 20, 2026 – Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) fans have reason to celebrate as Sri Lankan pace sensation Matheesha Pathirana has officially joined the squad. Fresh off a successful stint in the T20 World Cup earlier this year, Pathirana is expected to lead the KKR death-bowling attack.
The “Baby Malinga” has been in lethal form, recently picking up 2/27 against England and showing immense control in the International League T20. With KKR’s next match against the high-flying Rajasthan Royals scheduled for this week, Pathirana’s ability to bowl pin-point yorkers will be the X-factor the team needs to break into the top four. Head coach Chandrakant Pandit hinted that the pacer is “match-ready” and likely to feature in the starting XI immediately
