BCCI Extends Ajit Agarkar’s Term as Chief Selector
Mumbai, April 20, 2026 – In a move aimed at maintaining continuity, the BCCI has officially extended Ajit Agarkar’s contract as the Chairman of the Senior Selection Committee until June 2027.

Under Agarkar’s tenure, the Indian team has seen a successful transition period, integrating several young stars into the T20 and ODI formats. With the next ODI World Cup on the horizon, the Board expressed full confidence in Agarkar’s vision for the squad’s core setup. “The goal is to provide a stable environment for the players and the coaching staff as we prepare for the global cycle,” a senior BCCI official stated. The extension ensures Agarkar will oversee the selection for all major ICC trophies over the next year and a half.
