Rohini’s Journey of Perseverance and Success

Rohini, an 18-year-old tribal girl from Tamil Nadu, has made history. Coming from a humble background in the Tiruchirappalli district, she is the first tribal student from her state to secure admission to the prestigious National Institute of Technology (NIT), Trichy. Her father, a daily wage laborer, couldn’t be more proud of his daughter’s incredible achievement.

Rohini scored an impressive 73.8% in the JEE Mains 2024, earning a spot in the Chemical Engineering program at NIT Trichy. Overwhelmed with gratitude, she expressed her thanks to her teachers and Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister MK Stalin, who supported her in paying the fees.

A Dream Born in a Government School

Rohini’s journey wasn’t easy. She studied in a government-run tribal school, where she received constant encouragement from her headmaster and teachers. Their belief in her potential motivated her to excel in the JEE exam. The Tamil Nadu government also stepped in, covering the fees and giving Rohini the opportunity to chase her dreams.

Daily Struggles, Big Dreams

Rohini’s story is one of determination. Her parents, both daily wage laborers from a small village in Tiruchirappalli, worked tirelessly to support their daughter’s education. Despite the challenges, Rohini juggled her studies with helping her family earn a living. Her dedication paid off, opening doors she once thought were out of reach.

Not Alone in Triumph

Rohini’s success is inspiring, but she’s not alone. Sukanya, another tribal girl from Tamil Nadu, has also secured admission to NIT Trichy. Sukanya’s story is equally remarkable. A resident of Velampatu village, she lost her mother to a lightning strike when she was just three years old. Despite this tragedy and the many struggles that come with living in a remote tribal area, she persevered.

Sukanya completed her 12th grade at a government school and received coaching for the entrance exams at Eklavya Boarding School, a facility that offers free education, accommodation, and meals to tribal students. Her hard work paid off when she cleared the JEE Mains and earned her place at NIT Trichy.

Bright Futures Ahead

Thanks to the financial support from the Tamil Nadu government, both Rohini and Sukanya will be able to pursue their engineering dreams without the burden of education costs. Their stories are a testament to the power of resilience, hard work, and the impact of community support.

These young women have not only shattered stereotypes but are paving the way for future generations of tribal students to dream big and achieve even bigger.
