Review:
Air is a well-made and engaging film that tells the story of how Michael Jordan and Nike came together to create one of the most iconic and successful partnerships in sports history. The film does an excellent job of capturing the excitement and energy of the early days of the Air Jordan brand, and it also provides a fascinating glimpse into the inner workings of the sports business.
Matt Damon gives a standout performance as Sonny Vaccaro, the Nike employee who was instrumental in signing Jordan to the company. Damon perfectly captures Vaccaro’s passion and determination, and he also brings a lot of heart and humor to the role. Ben Affleck is also excellent as Phil Knight, the Nike co-founder who was initially skeptical of Jordan’s potential. Affleck’s performance is understated and nuanced, and he helps to create a complex and believable portrait of Knight.
The supporting cast is also excellent, with standout performances from Jason Bateman, Marlon Wayans, Chris Messina, Chris Tucker, and Viola Davis. Each actor brings their own unique perspective to the story, and they all help to create a rich and textured film.
Air is a must-see for any fan of Michael Jordan, Nike, or sports history. The film is a well-made, engaging, and informative look at one of the most important moments in sports history.
