Char Dham Yatra: New Travel Advisory To Ensure Smooth Pilgrimage

In a bid to alleviate traffic congestion during the revered Char Dham Yatra, the Uttarkashi Police have released a detailed travel advisory for pilgrims. As reported by Travel + Leisure, this advisory outlines specific routes to facilitate an uninterrupted spiritual journey for the thousands of devotees visiting the sacred Char Dham sites—Kedarnath, Badrinath, Yamunotri, and Gangotri—in Uttarakhand.

Optimized Routes for a Seamless Journey

To better manage the influx of pilgrims and streamline traffic, the Uttarkashi Police have designated fixed routes from Rishikesh and Dehradun. Here’s a detailed breakdown of the recommended pathways:

  • Rishikesh to Gangotri: Travel through Narendranagar, Chamba, Dharasu Band, Uttarkashi, Gangotri, Bhatwadi, Harsil, and Gangotri.
  • Rishikesh to Yamunotri: Follow the route via Narendranagar, Chamba, Dharasu Band, Jankichatti, Brahmakhal, and Radi Top.
  • Dehradun to Yamunotri: The advised path includes Damta, Naugaon, Barkot, Dobata, and Jankichatti.
  • Yamunotri to Gangotri: Move from Jankichatti through Dobata, Radi Top, Brahmakhal, Dharasu Band, Uttarkashi, Gangori, Bhatwadi, and Harsil.

For those returning from Gangotri to Rishikesh, the advisory suggests avoiding the Harsil, Bhatwadi, Gangotri, and Tekhla bridges. Instead, travelers should use the alternative route via Mando, Joshiada, Manera, Badethi, Matali, and Dharasu. Pilgrims heading to Kedarnath and Badrinath from Gangotri should take the route through Harshil, Bhatwadi, Gangori, Tekhala, Mando, Manpur, Chowringhee, Lambgaon, and Srinagar.

Additionally, to reduce urban congestion, heavy trucks are restricted from entering urban areas between 9:00 AM and 9:00 PM.
