Women are not objects

This may sound simple, but this needs to be repeated over and over again to make a difference. We’ve been taught, and these days I see it with my own eyes on an almost daily basis, that women are somehow less valuable than men. We’re treated like objects. We’re told how we should look, what we should wear, and what kind of personality we should have. But we are more than just our bodies. We are human beings with a mind and emotions. This one difference is too often overlooked. To view women as objects is to view them as less than human.

Have you ever wondered why is it so easy to shame and defame women? The answer is simple. When we see a woman as an object rather than as an individual, then her character is not as important. It seems like society wants to see women suffer or be unfairly judged for their clothes or behaviour; without recognizing it’s the system that allows this to happen.

How can we forget that the way society sees women has never really changed. Women are constantly objectified in the media, while men are constantly respected. Women are often seen as powerless, weak, and incapable. Society has given them a lower status than men. Men have also been conditioned to believe that it’s okay to call women names or put them down.

Women have been fighting for their rights for years but we’re still not where we need to be. We’re tired of being told how we should look and act and we’re sick of our accomplishments being undermined by men who can’t accept that there’s more to us than just our looks and body size.

So here I say it again: Women are not objects. They are not pieces of meat for men to drool over. They are not objects for men to use at their leisure. They are not things that exist solely to be judged on their appearance or laughed at when they make a mistake. Women are people.

From Victoria’s Secret commercials to the latest fashion trends, it’s hard to escape the fact that women are seen as objects for consumption by men. Whether it’s a product being sold to us or the way our bodies are portrayed in the media, women are constantly being reduced to objects. And this is a problem!

It’s about time we start fighting back. We need to teach young girls that they do not have to live up to harmful stereotypes about what it means to be female in our society. Teaching them that they can be powerful, confident, and respected without being sexualized or objectified is crucial for empowering future generations of women.

And it’s time for men to stop objectifying women. Men are not the only ones guilty of this, but it is up to them to take responsibility for their actions. The continuous degradation of women needs to end.
